The Daewoo plasma TV is an EDTV in an unusual size
This Daewoo plasma TV is
is an EDTV and may fits the needs of TV viewing from a distance of 10-16 feet (a
42 inch EDTV would be too small).
The Daewoo 46 inch plasma is very reasonably priced and may be worth
considering if you can live with its shortcomings.
Here's what we've uncovered on this mysterious plasma.
two AV inputs: 1
component, 1 composite or S-Video
two PC inputs: 1 RGB D-Sub
1 DVI
analog TV tuner
According to everyone who's
seen the Daewoo plasma TV (including me at my local Sam's Club) the display
looks very good, the sound quality of the built-in speakers is mediocre.
This is an older generation flat panel TV. Check out the latest Daewoo plasma TV.
You can always add 10W external speakers or a Home Theater system.
There is an annoying 15-second delay while the Daewoo "searches" for inputs when
you cycle the input button. You won't find universal remotes that have the codes for
this TV but it does come with an industrial-looking remote.
It only has PIP functions
when you use an AV input inset into a PC screen. In other words it will only
show dual images when a computer is attached (you can watch TV while surfing the
Web).
The
Daewoo 46 inch plasma manual leads you to believe that the primary purpose of
the Daewoo is for a computer monitor or as a display monitor for commercial use.
In summary it has a very good picture, it's reasonably priced (but hard to
find). On the downside the Daewoo plasma TV has limited inputs, annoying lag,
and
crappy sound (which can be overcome). You can do the switching from your
receiver (on your HT) and try not to switch inputs too much from the TV.
