Flat panel monitor advantages of plasmas and LCD TVs
(Updated 9/3/06) The flat panel monitor advantages of LCD TVs and plasma TVs have a universal
appeal. The most obvious advantage that comes to mind is that their technology
is thin and light so that either can easily be wall mounted. If you already know that a flat panel monitor is for you then go straight to all of the reviews.
If you're just interested in 50 inch plasma TVs these are the best of the bunch in the 50 inch plasma TVs size:
If you haven't decided which way to go with you're next TV purchase let's compare the technologies. One of the primary flat panel
monitor advantages of LCD and plasma technology is there uber-cool wall mount-ability. Aside from the obvious
aesthetic
(wow factor) value, there is also an enormous space saving advantage garnered by
flat panel monitor "thinness" over other TVs.
There are other flat panel advantages such as very good (LCD TV) to excellent
(plasma TV) picture quality. While plasma TVs enjoy greater picture size /
quality, LCD TVs have no static image burn in risk and consume less energy.
Both of these flat panel monitors offer high brightness and crisp detail.
Although CRT picture quality is superb they have severe picture size and weight
limitations.
The flat panel monitor advantages over conventional TVs becomes diluted when
comparing their picture size advantage with the jumbo DLP/LCD rear projection
TVs.
While it's true these oversized TVs are not as bulky and heavy as conventional
(CRT) TVs they are still clumsy space eaters. They will never be hung on a wall
and you will be replacing its projection lamp (expensive) at some point during
your ownership.
Some of these sets have been known to display an annoying rainbow effect not
visible to everyone and their pictures have been known to dim as you move away
from the set. Additionally these TVs can only be enjoyed from a fixed viewing
angle-directly in front of the TV.
The flat panel monitor advantages over all other TVs are obvious but of course
they're expensive. But-- just like everything else in life you get what you pay
for.
