The Fujitsu P42HHA40US is a no frills HD plasma screen. Unfortunately this flat panel does not living up to past Fujitsu panels. It has 1,024 x 1,024 resolution screen with 50Hz support for both 720p and 1080i pictures.
The Fujitsu has a video processor, AVM II (Advanced Video Movement II), which uses digital control technologies to produce cleaner, crisper images with more contrast. The image is finely detailed.
Although this HD plasma screen displays bright images with exquisite detail in its Hi Def mode there is sub par color rendering (especially with reds).
It doesn’t help that Fujitsu’s incomprehensible menus make it near impossible to make color adjustments. Unlike the Pannies or NECs you’ll need professional calibration to wade through this mess so don’t even try.
The Fujitsu has a Natural Light Sensor on the side of the screen (similar to many LCD TVs today) that detects ambient lighting. It adjusts its settings accordingly.
The Fujitsu is a plain monitor, no television tuner, no speakers. The Fujitsu has an HDMI port instead of a DVI connection and two components. There's no Scart input to connect digital boxes, VCRs and games consoles so you’ll have to buy a Scart adaptor that fits the screen's VGA input.
Although the Fujitsu HD plasma screen has good image quality it delivers uneven performance and like all Fujitsu’s its way too expensive.
