Our LG Plasma TV Review of the LG 50PC3D. Is It Worth It?

(Reviewed 10/5/06) We love doing an LG plasma TV review because watching movies come alive on the movie screen is such a thrill. Wouldn’t it be just great if we could watch our DVDs the same way as the movies? But then we’d have to have a really big space to put in a large movie screen which most of our homes just doesn’t seem to have.

Oh well, that’s too bad. But then we can always go for a 50 LG plasma TV like the LG 50PC3D plasma TV to bring home that movie theatre experience. Who’s not going to be impressed with a 50 LG plasma TV in your living room? What about the LG 50PC3D? Let’s read further down this LG plasma TV review and see what the perks of having the LG 50PC3D are.

With this LG plasma TV review there might be a need to give out the specifics like this LG HDTV plasma ‘s dimensions for example. The LG 50PC3D plasma TV measures 51.3 by 34.3 by 14 inches (WHD) including the stand, and the panel itself measures a nice 4.2 inches thick. There’s just something classy about this 50 LG plasma TV’s design of charcoal grey surrounding the big screen and silver near the edges.

Simple yet chic and the speakers blend nicely as well on either side of the plasma TV. And never mind those typical logos and acronyms that used to plaster the face of other LGs. This 50 LG plasma TV looks perfectly fine without them. This LG plasma TV review rates that as a plus. Well, maybe except for that annoying green LED power indicator, but that’s not really a big deal.

The LG 50PC3D plasma TV also comes with a remote that fits the hand nicely and is easy to get around by feel. It doesn’t come with backlighting. It has a slide-down door to conceal a few buttons and commands. The internal menu has a clean design and is simple to navigate. This LG plasma TV review gives that a plus too.

This LG HDTV plasma also has a native resolution of 1,366x768 pixels on its screen. When it comes to conveniences, well, this LG plasma TV review might have to say LG 50PC3D seems to be a bit sparse in that area. But this LG 50PC3D plasma TV makes up for it with an ATSC tuner to receive over-the-air HDTV and more aspect-ratio selections.

One of the selections, Cinema Zoom offers 16 levels of cropping and magnification. LG also offers 6 nonadjustable modes like Daylight, Normal, Night Time, Movie, Video Game, and Expert plus a seventh custom setting which you can tinker to suit your preferences.

Conclusion:The LG 50PC3D plasma TV delivers a “not-so-good” picture and does not compare to other brand name plasmas. Although its solid color reproduction is a plus the darker scenes are inadequate. This LG plasma TV review had to give it a low rating. The LG 50PC3D plasma TV could also use some kind of noise reduction. The telltale mosquito noise seems to be more obvious with this LG HDTV plasma as compared with other brand name plasmas.

Overall, this LG plasma TV review can say LG 50PC3D plasma TV does make a nice centrepiece on your living room but it does not deliver the picture quality of other brand name plasmas.
