Our plasma review of the Sony KDE-42XS955 shows that this plasma is a very good TV with excellent HD and DVD picture quality and sound. It has front A/V inputs, located on its side which include S-video. The motion compensation feature worked well.

This plasma has an integrated tuner for decoding off-air digital and digital-cable signals, optical digital-audio output to receiver, virtual surround sound with a swivel base. The remote is ok but lacks a backlight. The onscreen menu is not intuitive. The Sony KDE-42XS955 has a slot for viewing digital photos stored on Memory Stick media, an auto volume leveler, customizable channel labels, and automatic display of active program's rating. This plasma does not have the auto power-off feature (important if you have kids) or channel block-out.

Toshiba 42HP84 - Panel dimensions 28Hx51Wx5D in. 113 lbs.

Our plasma TV review of the Toshiba 42HP84 shows that this plasma is a very good TV. It has excellent HD picture quality and sound. It has front A/V inputs, located on its side which include S-video. The picture on the basic connection is fair. This plasma has the auto power-off feature. virtual surround sound, auto volume leveler, customizable channel labels, and channel block-out.

Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P - Panel dimensions 30Hx45Wx6D in. 93 lbs.

Our plasma TV review of the Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P shows that this plasma is a very good TV. It has HD picture quality and excellent sound. It can't display an image from a 720p HD signal.

The Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P has an integrated tuner for decoding off-air digital and digital-cable signals, optical digital-audio output to receiver and virtual surround sound. There is a slot for viewing digital photos stored on Secure Digital (SD) or PC Card media. Also included is an auto volume leveler, customizable channel labels, and channel block-out.
