Our plasma TV reviews show which TV has better colors
Our plasma
TV reviews show that the Pioneer PDP-4360HD, Pioneer PDP-4350HD and the Pioneer PDP-4340HD are three of the best plasma TVs in the
42 / 43 inch screen size. They have an excellent array of features, stunning picture quality and striking good looks.

The Pioneer
has a wide, high-gloss black bezel surrounding its 43-inch-diagonal screen.
Truly a handsome-looking flat panel monitor the Pioneer has only one Achilles
heel. If you've read our plasma TV reviews you know as of yet no plasma TV can match Panasonic’s deep blacks.
Pioneer uses a separate A/V media receiver to house all connections. It's a
convenient arrangement. Only one proprietary cable runs from that receiver to
the panel. The panel and the receiver require separate AC power cords.
The media
receiver handles the A/V switching and video processing, and an HDTV tuner is
built in for off-air digital broadcasts and unscrambled digital cable programs.
The component-size media receiver fits nicely on a shelf.
The Pioneer PDP-4340HD comes with matching detachable silver-finish speakers and
a stand has a swivel base. This flat panel monitor is Energy Star-compliant.
This means it won’t eat up your electricity in standby mode.
The Pioneer uses a backlit remote that’s capable of controlling other A/V gear.
The internal menu system is intuitive and easy to navigate.
The Pioneer
PDP-4340HD runs on a 72Hz vertical refresh rate. In English, that means you
should see a more stable picture when viewing DVD movies and other video
material that was originally shot on film.
This flat panel monitor has a 1,024x768 native resolution. That number means
this is a true HDTV. It displays sharper high-def images but not sharper DVD or
standard TV images. In our plasma TV reviews no HDTVs improve upon SD or DVD
player PQ.
The PDP-4340HD features an onboard ATSC for off-air HDTV reception. The numerous
convenience features include dual-tuner for picture-in-picture and it has a
split-screen option.
To get
optimum PQ set the sharpness control at minus 2, which will remove the edge
enhancement and still preserve picture sharpness. The Pioneer colors were
vibrant, and skin tones looked natural.
This flat
panel monitor has outstanding color fidelity. Color is this Pioneer’s strongest
characteristic. It has excellent grayscale tracking and color decoding.
As with
most plasma TVs in our plasma TV reviews the dark scenes lack shadow detail. At
this point in plasma technology only Panasonic plasmas have the ability to
display a decent black. The darkest color the Pioneer could produce is a very
dark gray.
