A plasma Samsung HDTV will deliver the smoothest action of all of their types of HDTVs. Plasma screens light up small cells of gases (xenon and neon) between two plates of glass rendering very bright, crisp images. This process works exceptionally well on large screens.
That’s why plasma TVs have traditionally been the best bang for your buck when it comes to HDTVs. Samsungs typically have a slim and sophisticated design with an exceptional picture. While most people agree that the Panasonics rule the plasma roost the Samsungs are worthy competitors.
All plasma manufacturers offer large screen sizes. Samsung’s range from 42-Inch to 63-Inch. I once had an old 67” Philips that didn’t last too long (luckily I bought it at Costco) and it weighed 300 pounds! Boy times have changed. It had a great picture but I eventually replaced it with a 65” Panny weighing in at a measly 70 pounds.
Plasma TVs work well in dark rooms making them ideal for watching movies. Be warned though they do pick up glare if you have a window a lamp that reflects back into the screen. Another plus with plasma TVs is they typically offer higher contrast ratios with more saturated colors and have wider viewing angles than LCD TVs.
Plasma are made for Sports
Unlike LCD TVs plasmas track fast-moving images without motion blur. This makes them ideal for gaming or watching any type of fast moving sporting event. The Samsung plasma line prides itself on the sharpness of its visual detail. They now have cabinet depths as thin as 1.4”. Plasma profiles are still getting thinner and some of their models are 3D capable.
