What You Need To Know About The Sharp Aquos Line

Sharp Aquos HDTVs in the market feature many well-known models and are a long trusted electronics brand. Sharp’s line of LCD televisions is the Aquos, a premium line compared to lower end non-Aquos branded LCD TVs also from Sharp.

Overall the Aquos line is known for its RYGB color space display or Quatron that adds a yellow component beyond the standard RGB color spaces used by most color televisions. Furthermore, models like the BD-60U and BD-80U even have Blu-Ray Disc players built in. Today we will be reviewing the Sharp LC-42BD80U, Sharp LC-40LE810UN, and Sharp LC-60E88UN. At the bottom of this article are links to other Sharp LCD HDTVs.

The Sharp Aquos LC-42BD80U is the first attempt in a line of HDTVs to have a Blu-ray player built into their system. Blu-ray is one of the best ways to fully exploit the power of high definition, and most HDTV buyers will buy or already own a player.

Therefore, a built-in Blu-Ray player is a no-brainer. In fact, it even saves space in your home HDTV theatre set-up.By itself, the Sharp LC-42BD80U is a 1080p resolution full high definition TV. It features the new, proprietary Superlucent Advanced Super View (ASV) anti-glare panel that is amazingly receptive to room light levels. The picture remains crisp, day or night. Moreover, in conjunction with Blu-Ray, the Aquos Pure Mode can automatically tell and optimizes what aspect ratio the title is in.

While factoring in the price of the Blu-Ray player makes this model very reasonable, the Blu-Ray does have its limitations, including having none of the next generation audio formats found in Blu-Ray players out in the market. However, whatever technology we buy today, upgrades are inevitable. Therefore, we can live with this fact. Read the full review here.

Meanwhile, the Sharp LC-40LE810UN is a standalone HDTV that exemplifies why Sharp Aquos is the line to look out for if you are the competition. This model uses enhanced Fine Motion 120Hz refresh rates instead of the Aquo Motion 240Hz.

However, it seems to still more than sufficiently handle motion blurs with an amazing picture response time. This model is from a line featuring the new X-Gen 1080p panel with LED edge lighting.

Our only negative comment of such an elegant package is that it only features an Ethernet connection—no wireless. This makes placement in the room more complicated, of course. Read the full review here.

The Sharp LC-60E88UN similarly uses the new X-Gen panel and Fine Motion 240Hz refresh rate to boot. All in all, this makes it truly high performance with breathtaking 1080p full high definition picture.

In addition, is housed in a superior piano black cabinet with recessed speakers mounted inconspicuously at the bottom. However, you do have to be careful with viewing angles since where you sit might effect black levels of the picture even if you shift a few degrees.

The addition of a swiveling mechanism would have helped but indeed lacks this feature to easily adapt to your seating position. The Sharp Aquos lines are indeed the top-of-the-line with consistent cheers for the addition of yellow in the RGB color spaces. Read the full review here.
