Is the Sony LED HDTV Bravia EX700 Series 60-Inch Right For you?

The Sony LED HDTV Bravia EX700 Series 60-Inch uses LED backlight technology to bring to life this model’s larger-than-life 60-inch display. Like its competitors this 60 inch Sony Bravia has a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio which can switch between 7 widescreen options, including Auto Wide, Conventional 4:3, Full, Wide Zoom, Stretch, Zoom, and Normal.

Furthermore, this TV uses Sony’s latest imaging technology and proprietary edge-lit innovation to deliver superior video while keeping the EX700’s profile slim to accommodate most home theaters. LCDs are notorious for poor viewing angles, not so with this HDTV. This TV has a viewing angle of 52 degrees which is excellent. Typical LCD TVs today only manage a viewing angle range of 30 – 40 degrees.

If you are looking for cons concerning the EX700, die-hards might find this model’s 120 Hz refresh rate a bit slow. Although there are no noticeable judders or motion blurriness the TV’s refresh rate is not as fast as some of the latest TVs available today. 240 Hz refresh rates are available in current models in the market but we still found the EX700 smooth and seamless.

This TV also has a Presence Sensor that automatically turns the TV off when it doesn’t detect movement in the room. This may not be a good thing but you can disable it.

Like most of its competitors Sony features a wide range of online content although they do offer more online services than any other TV maker today. One of my favorite features is its Ambient Sensor. This feature automatically adjusts the TV’s brightness and color to the room’s lighting condition. What you get is optimized video for gaming or just plain old TV watching.

Some of this TVs specs:

The TV’s dimensions are 56.3 W x 2.6 D x 34.5H and it weighs about 75 pounds. This TV has built-in Digital and Analog tuners with Picture-in-Picture that allows viewers to view two different video sources at the same time.

Plenty of connectivity options

On the side and rear of the panel of this Sony LED HDTV you’ll find HDMI, Component and Composite video connections. In the back there is 1 Audio line-in, 1 USB, 2 HDMI input and 1 Composite video input port. At the rear of the TV there are 3 Audio line-in, 1 Audio line-out, 2 HDMI input, 1 Audio line-in 1 Component video input,, 1 Digital audio output (optical – TOSLINK), 1 Composite video/component video input.

The TV’s USB port is for digital photos, audio and videos and files stored in thumb drives. It has adequate built in 10 watt speakers mounted on the left and right side but to get the best bang out of this TV it should be hooked up to external speakers.
